Man cited after motorcycle accident

A man was injured in a motorcycle accident near Streator over the weekend.

The 40-year-old man has been charged with improper lane usage, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving an uninsured motor vehicle. The accident occurred when the man left the roadway for unknown reasons off of Illinois Route 18.

No further details of the accident were reported, but the man was transported to the hospital when emergency crews arrived.

Motorcyclists gives fake insurance card to officer

A deputy pulled over a man on a motorcycle for driving 16 mph over the speed limit. Once pulled over, the man handed the police officers a piece of cardboard with a number and the word “Geico” on it.

The man did not have a license plate for the vehicle, registration or insurance. He also did not have a functioning tail light. The man said that he was missing things because he built the motorcycle himself.

The man was cited for the infractions including speeding and no proof of insurance.
