Toyota recalls 2003 Sequoias

Posted on May 7th, 2010 No Comments

Toyota Motor Corp. recalled about 50,000 early-2003 Sequoia SUVs a week ago for an elechtronics problem with acceleration speed.

Some drivers find themselves paying to fix the defect, which Toyota has known about for years. While the company had been fixing the issue for free when contacted, if an owner chose to patronize an independent car repair service, they could find themselves out of pocket.

The problem involved latency between acceleration and how fast the car actually moved, creating a dangerous situation wherein a driver would not move as quickly as anticipated.

This kind of thing is something that a driver cannot necessarily anticipate and can lead to unforunate accidents. It is important to possess insurance in the case of unforeseen accidents and situations that you cannot control.
