According to witnesses, a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed ran a red light on 106th Street and Ewing Avenue at around 7:30 am Sunday morning. That vehicle struck another car and caused a chain reaction involving two more vehicles.

Two motorists, including the driver of the vehicle that ran the red light, were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious to critical condition. Two people involved in the accident refused medical treatment and another driver was treated at the scene. So far no citations or charges have been issued.

A Chicago police officer was standing outside of his squad car on Christmas night when a vehicle crossed the center line and jumped the curb, hitting the squad car from behind. The officer was thrown 30 to 40 feet from his vehicle and is currently in critical condition at the hospital.
