The Governor of Pennsylvania has proposed an idea to fine uninsured motorists in order to raise revenue for the state and fills the holes from a deficit that has been created.
The Governor wants to do this by installing cameras on major roadways that will take pictures of people’s license plates and cross-reference them with insurance information to make sure that they are driving with valid motor vehicle insurance. The fines would then be mailed to people and picked up by a private contractor that would be hired.
Many people feel that this idea is flawed on many levels, but the Governor thinks that people who drive without insurance put other drivers at risk and this aggressive tactic will cut down the number of uninsured drivers.
