Toyota recalls 2003 Sequoias

Posted on May 7th, 2010 No Comments

Toyota Motor Corp. recalled about 50,000 early-2003 Sequoia SUVs a week ago for an elechtronics problem with acceleration speed.

Some drivers find themselves paying to fix the defect, which Toyota has known about for years. While the company had been fixing the issue for free when contacted, if an owner chose to patronize an independent car repair service, they could find themselves out of pocket.

The problem involved latency between acceleration and how fast the car actually moved, creating a dangerous situation wherein a driver would not move as quickly as anticipated.

This kind of thing is something that a driver cannot necessarily anticipate and can lead to unforunate accidents. It is important to possess insurance in the case of unforeseen accidents and situations that you cannot control. Contact the Chicago auto insurance professionals at Insure on the Spot at 773-202-5060 today if you are looking for coverage for your vehicle.

According to a statement released by the Senate president’s office, “A Senate vehicle assigned to the Senate President for official legislative business was used by his son without his authorization.”

City repairs 225,000 potholes

Posted on April 12th, 2010 No Comments

According to city officials, over 225,000 potholes were filled this past winter in Chicago. The number of potholes needing to be repaired has dwindled by over 350,000 each winter for the last two years, said Chicago Transportation Commissioner Thomas Powers.

The number has been minimized due to fewer freeze-thaw cycles this winter, which means fewer weakened areas failed. In addition to this, federal stimulus funding has allowed the city to repave over 31 miles of road. The city’s annual pothole repair budget ranges from $10-12 million.

Your car could be damaged by something out of your control, such as a weak road or an unseen pothole. Auto insurance can make sure that this kind of accident doesn’t cost you dearly.
