Illinois State Senate President John Cullterton’s son was cited with driving under the influence around midnight Sunday, according to police reports. A breathalyzer test found his blood-alcohol level to be more than two times the legal limit.
The 26-year-old man was driving a state Senate owned 2009 Ford Escape when he was pulled over in the 800 block of North Dearborn Street due to erratic driving.
According to a statement released by the Senate president’s office, “A Senate vehicle assigned to the Senate President for official legislative business was used by his son without his authorization.”
“The Senate President is disappointed that this incident occurred and takes this matter very seriously. He will work to ensure that this does not occur in the future,” the statement continued.
