What is the minimum amount of insurance required for all car owners?

Posted on December 23rd, 2009 No Comments

According to Illinois law, all car owners are required to have a minimum amount of auto insurance. The minimum coverage in Illinois is typically $20,000 per person injured in one accident, limited to $40,000 total in one accident.

These requirements are meant to ensure that all drivers receive some type of protection on the road. These minimum amounts, however, do not restrict drivers from carrying other types of auto insurance.
